ENGLISH COURSES

The first step for the international students who desire to be successful in Australia is to speak good English. Here you will find lots of options of studying from the elementary to the advanced levels and also the Proficiency in English courses, which is one of the requests for international students who desire to undertake a vocational course or a university degree.

ELICOS – ENGLISH LANGUAGE INTENSIVE COURSES FOR OVERSEAS STUDENTS

The ELICOS also known as General English Program – It is designed for students who will be studying English in Australia as part of an intensive program. There is a minimum of 20 hours of scheduled classes involving face-to-face contact hours of English language instruction. Attendance of 80% of the course is compulsory.

CAMBRIDGE CERTIFICATES

  • CAMBRIDGE ENGLISH: PRELIMINARY (PET) qualification shows that you have basic practical language skills for everyday use.
    This exam is the logical step in your language-learning path between Cambridge English First (FCE) and Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE).
  • CAMBRIDGE ENGLISH: FIRST (FCE) qualification proves you have the language skills to live and work independently in an English-speaking country or study on courses taught in English.
    This exam is the logical step in your language-learning path between Cambridge English Preliminary (PET) and Cambridge English Advanced (CAE).
  • CAMBRIDGE ENGLISH: ADVANCED (CAE) This exam is the logical step in your language learning journey between Cambridge English: First (FCE) and Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE).
  • CAMBRIDGE ENGLISH: PROFICIENCY (CPE) qualification shows that you have mastered English to an exceptional level. It proves you can communicate with the fluency and sophistication of a highly competent English speaker. Passing the exam means you have the level of English that’s needed to study or work in a very senior professional or academic environment, for example on a postgraduate or PhD programme.

EAP – ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSE

EAP Courses help students to develop the necessary skills for academic study in mainstream courses at colleges and universities in Australia.
Studying EAP you will learn to read and understand academic texts, to operate in a university or college culture, how to write essays and submit reports to a standard expected by a university or college in an English-speaking country, how to reference texts correctly and how not to plagiarise, how to give a successful presentation and how to conduct an academic discussion and how to deal with high-level tasks at college or university level with confidence.

IELTS – INTERNATIONAL ENGLISH LANGUAGE TESTING SYSTEM

IELTS test measures the language proficiency of those who want to study or work where English is used as a language of communication. It uses a nine-band scale to clearly identify levels of proficiency, from non-user (band score 1) through to expert (band score 9).

IELTS provide a valid and accurate assessment of the four language skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking.

There are two IELTS test versions:
ACADEMIC – for people applying for higher education or professional registration;
GENERAL -for people applying to migrate to Australia, Canada and the UK, or applying for secondary education, training programmes and work experience in an English-speaking country.

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY VOCATIONAL COURSES

Certificates I, II, III, IV and Diploma in English Proficiency have been designed to provide students with an opportunity to enter the appropriate level of language development for their particular needs and skill levels. It has a more flexible delivery system than ELICOS.

HIGH SCHOOL PREPARATION – INTENSIVE ENGLISH

High School Preparation (HSP) is an intensive English program designed for international students who need to improve their English ability before commencing high school studies.

It helps students successfully develop their English skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) to enable a smooth transition into high school studies, develops students’ English vocabulary in relation to the high school subjects they will study and equips students with the study skills to achieve academic success when they continue on to high school.

PRIMARY SCHOOL

PRIMARY SCHOOL (YEARS PREP-6)

The Primary School Program is for students who want to come to Australia to study in Prep to Year 6.

Primary school students who are from a non-English speaking background also receive quality English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D) support, delivered by specialist EAL/D teachers. This EAL/D support is provided to develop the student’s English language ability to allow them to fully participate in primary classes.

International students enrolled in primary school must live with a parent or suitable nominated relative.

HIGH SCHOOL

JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL (YEARS 7-10)
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL (YEARS 11-12)

The HIGH SCHOOL (STUDY ABROAD) PROGRAM is for students who want to come to Australia for a short-term high school experience. International students can study in Year 7 to Year 12 for part of the Junior High School and/or Senior High School program.

The Study Abroad Component allows students to study in Australia for a period of 3, 6, 9 or 12 months. Students are provided with the opportunity to improve their English proficiency and immerse in Australian culture.
Upon completion, students receive a school report outlining their academic achievements.

International students enrolled in High School programs are able to choose to stay with an approved homestay provider or with a parent or suitable nominated relative who has been approved by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP).
